You, me, electricity
Location: Nemo, Amsterdam
History of communication
For the Dutch National Science Centre NEMO, NorthernLight developed and designed ‘E-com’, an exhibition about the role of electricity in the development of communication technology. All modern communication methods, such as phone, fax and e-mail have been made possible by the discovery of the relation between electricity and magnetism. The interactive exhibition features interactive experiments, computer games and audiovisual presentations.
Cyborg
Visitors are welcomed by Elektra. Standing almost 4 meters tall, this is the largest cyborg ever produced in Europe. One of the most popular exhibits in E-Com is Face-to-Face, where visitors communicate with each other through 3D-projections. A key feature of the exhibition is a multi-screen surround projection. This screen shows images of ‘avatars’ that visitors create themselves and also an inspiring movie about communication as a basic human need.
Scope of project
Concept development, design and multimedia development of the exhibition about electricity in communication. Consists of a panorama projection; within the projection interactive exhibits are integrated.
