Smartphone tour Kelvingrove

Location: Kelvingrove Art & Galleries Museum, Glasgow, Scotland

Digital Adventure Quest

For the famous Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow, NorthernLight was responsible for the design, development and implementation of “The Centre of New Enlightenment” (TCoNE). TCoNE is one of UK’s most exciting new experiences for young people aged 10 to 14 years and their families.I It is where we can discover how to become the heroes of tomorrow. The Centre of New Enlightenment is not an exhi bition, it is an experience; an adventure and an educational journey. It’s a one of a kind smartphone based cultural treasure hunt, especially aimed at children between 10 and 14. Based on the values of trust, compassion, determination and endurance, visitors explore the mu seum. They use the PDA for guidance, to play educational games, to answer questions and to document their journey. Visitors will also encounter local immersive experiences and interactive exhibits.

Visitors explore artifacts from different categories: historical art, contemporary art, cul tural heritage, social history, natural history and contemporary design. The quest starts and ends in a specially designed object theatre, with state of the art projections, displays and sound systems.

The Centre of New Enlightenment was shortlisted in 2008 for the Art Fund Prize and for the Heritage Lottery Fund Award.
