Pluk! Saves nature

Location: Kasteel Groeneveld, Baarn, The Netherlands

Comic character stars in exhibition

The Dutch Castle, Groeneveld has housed one of the most prepossessing and captivating characters of Dutch children’s literature: Pluk. This exhibition shows the original work of his designer Fiep Westendorp. Besides this, the exhibition has been designed with a young audience in mind. Together with Pluk, children go saving the ‘Tortel’ garden and the ‘Krullevaar’. Children can hang upside down to look at the adult world from another point of view, test their creativity in solving brainteasers or they can judge the town plans of the evil ‘Parkmeester’ by using the droppings of ‘Dollie’ the pigeon!

Colorful fantasy story

The attic of Castle Groeneveld has been transformed into a happy world of charming graphics and playing children. And of course, Pluk’s breakdown lorry is there too! The book, with its unconventional storylines, has been the inspiration for our quirky yet fascinating exhibition.
