Music and performance
‘Eureka! The National Children’s Museum’ is a museum designed especially for 0 – 12 year olds, and since its opening in Halifax in 1992, ‘Eureka! The National Children’s Museum’ has attracted over 3.5 million visitors. SoundSpace enables children aged 3 to 12 to experience the art and science of sound, music and performance. As part of the experience, children help Orby the Alien to understand the information he has found on the Golden Record of the Voyager.
Orby the Alien
Children help Orby the Alien to embark on a musical journey. Orby found the Voyager and the Golden Disk when he was flying in his spacecraft. He decides to travel to Earth to find out more about phenomena called sound and music. A series of interactive learning environments enable children to experiment with music to learn about musical performance and music’s impact on society.
