Cience Viva, Lagos
Location: Lagos, Portugal
Capital of the world
The Ciencia Viva centre, celebrates an age of discovery: The city of Lagos in Portugal played a key role during the 15th century period of Portuguese exploration. Prince Henry the Navigator lived in Lagos. Gil Eanes also lived there. He was the first to sail beyond Cape Bojador in 1434, the place considered the end of the world. Lagos was at least as important during the Age of Discovery as Cape Canaveral was during the early years of space exploration.
